Visiting Al-Baha, a city in the Hejaz region, is like stepping into a different Saudi Arabia. Located on the slopes of the Al Sarawat Mountains, the city is surrounded by over forty forests, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers. Al-Baha also boasts a rich cultural heritage dating back to ancient times when the city's location played a strategic role in trade and commerce.
Travel to Al-Baha with flyadeal’s cheap flight tickets and enjoy Everyday Low Fares, seat selection, and comfortable seats with USB charging.
The easiest way to get to Al-Baha from the Al-Baha Domestic Airport (ABT) is by renting a car or hiring a taxi. The journey to the centre of Al-Baha takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic.
Al-Baha is best known for its proximity to Thee Ain Village, a breathtaking settlement of houses that date back to the 8th century. Named after the water that flows from the nearby hilltops, the village is built on top of white stone and set against the backdrop of a dazzling mountain view. Discover the village's stunning mosque, walk through streets brimming with history, and explore the nearby forts that once protected Thee Ain Village from raids. There is no entrance fee.
If you're in an adventurous mood, the Hanging Bridge is the perfect attraction for you. Located on a former private farm transformed by a Saudi engineer into what is now called the Bridge Botanical Garden, the 100-meter suspension bridge makes for a thrilling walk and a fantastic vantage point from which to take photos. You can find it in the Baljurashi area of Al-Baha. Careful, though – the bridge moves when the wind blows, making for an adrenaline-filled experience! The engineer, Ahmed Ali Al-Qurai, has said it is very safe.
The perfect Al-Baha visit isn't without a fascinating trip into nature. Situated on a cliff at a height of over 1700 metres, Raghadan Forest Park makes for the ideal choice. Follow the paved path and encounter baboons, soak in the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, including the road leading to Thee Ain Village, and let your children enjoy the playground and the zoo. If you visit on Sunday, you may get to see one of the most famous ancient markets in the region. Raghadan also boasts an array of festivals, such as The International Honey Festival.
Al-Baha Souq is one of the largest markets in the area. Every Tuesday, local vendors gather in the heart of Al-Baha and sell products such as honey, textiles, fish from the coastal towns nearby, various household items, and more. A visit to the Al-Baha Souq gives you a glimpse into the local culture, engulfing you in delicious smells, beautiful sights, and a vibrant community.
Al-Baha's cultural heritage is not to be forgotten. Al Arsh Heritage Museum presents a detailed overview of the ancient Al-Baha governorate and displays many artifacts of the time. Al Beqerb Museum and Al Amiriyah Museum are your doorways to the past lives of the region's inhabitants. Learn more about the leather, kitchenware, and other objects used by Al Baha's predecessors. Visiting all three museums will enrich your understanding of Al-Baha and therefore enhance your experience.
This list would not be complete without Prince Hussam Park in Al-Qayyim, one of the most famous parks to visit in Al-Baha. It comprises an artificial lake, interactive fountains and waterfalls, green picnic spots, playgrounds, food stalls, and prayer rooms. These recreational facilities attract locals and tourists alike, giving everyone the space to decompress and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the sun. Thanks to its elevated location, you can see the sprawling city of Al-Baha.
Situated about thirty kilometres from the heart of Al-Baha, Al Kharrara Waterfall is a popular destination due to its harmonic atmosphere of peace, calm, and rejuvenation. Surrounded by the Khairah Forest, the waterfall is a great place to have an afternoon stroll, capture the beauty of nature through a camera lens, and take a break from the bustle of the city.
Wadi Al Janabeen Dam is the biggest dam in the area, providing water to neighbourhoods such as Baljurashi. The dam is surrounded by a promenade that makes walking around the body of water very easy, and there is an adjacent park with children's playgrounds and resting spots. Let the stunning landscape make an impression on you as you watch the water and the juniper trees sway in the breeze.
